Description

The 3T ErgoTerra Pro entered the gravel world just on the cusp of it's explosive growth. A seemingly normal road bar shape with flared drops. Not superwide, just enough to deliver some extra leverage and control on the roughest terrain, or on tricky downhills. It is still a favorite option for gravel racers, who may not need the super wide flares found on many gravel bars. Those options are better for gravel adventure, preferably with 650b tires a few frame bags and a desire to see the world beyond pavement, or roads.
As a 3T Pro-level product, the ErgoTerra Pro Handlebar is made from 7050 aluminum alloy, which is lightweight and carries inherent lively ride properties without a high fatigue rate or lack of stiffness. It really is a premium aluminum bar experience and the affordable range in 3T's line-up. The base shape of the ErgoTerra is derived from the massively popular Ergosum road bar, making it both compact and ergonomic. Both bars have an 89mm reach and 120mm drop, and the ErgoTerra drops each have a 6 degree outward flare. This creates a wider base at a lower height, improving the center of gravity and providing extra leverage over rough terrain. Wrist clearance is perfect, keeping the position natural and free, which allows the rider to keep their elbows relaxed to absorb the punishment from below while maintaining complete control.
The 31.8mm diameter ErgoTerra Pro is also clip-on aerobar compatible, another plus for gravel racers. The bar is offered in two sizes, expressed as the center of the hoods, then the width of the flares. So the 42/45 has a 42cm on center hood position, but a 45cm max width. The same principle for the 44/47. What we like about the shape and how the drops flare is that the lever hood sit pretty normally, not at some side angle. This comes from the flare beginning below the hood mount zone, making the bar more of a normal feel for roadies crossing over to gravel. At 245 grams for the 42/45 size the ErgoTerra Pro Handlebar is a great balance of road and gravel requirements at a reasonable weight and price.
