You don't need to ride Assos bibs or shorts to take advantage of the famous Assos Chamois Creme (cream). This product has been the favorite of the pro peloton, as well as serious cycling enthusiasts because it is highly effective at reducing friction between the rider and the saddle, as well as the chamois for that matter. Padding is not enough and many pads use technical fibers that are not as soft as naturally occurring options. The newer technical fibers and foam pads do offer significant improvements in many cases, such as anti-bacterial properties and the ability stretch with the body as the rider changes pressure requirements on the saddle. While Assos developed their current formula for their famous elastic chamois pads, the all-natural ingredients are effective on any pad.

The Assos care product designers understand the importance of chamois cream and its function for creating added comfort, so care was taken when developing and blending the unique ingredients. The 5oz Chamois Creme jar is filled with a soft and velvety cream which is made from all natural ingredients and specifically formulated for synthetic chamois pads. It will also reduce bacterial and fungal infections on your skin and lengthen the life of your chamois when used properly. Assos recommends three possible application options for their chamois pads. A very thin layer may be applied directly to the skin. Please avoid the most sensitive areas. This helps to condition in the skin and can assist in preventing bacterial transfer. The second is a thin layer rubbed into the pad itself, which not only contributes to the anti-bacterial properties but also to condition the pad itself, keeping it supple and reducing friction against the skin. The third is perhaps the least practiced, and then only by Assos bib and short users. Assos recommends applying a thin layer to the chamois right after washing, while the pad is still wet. The cream then dries into the pad, maintaining the cover and foam, prolonging their life. In our experience this last usage is actually very effective and reduces the amount of cream to be used when getting ready to ride.

The botanical embrocation has a pleasant, light scent and will deliver a slight tingle on the skin on first contact. The scent isn't so strong that you will attract bees, nor draw looks (well, beyond the norm) at the coffee shop. While there are many excellent chamois creams available, the Assos Chamois Creme is still our best selling product and an Excel Staff favorite. We highly recommend using it, in thin applications as recommended, for optimal results.
