Women seeking a high quality, high performing race-level bib short can rely on Assos for details and capabilities that ensure that any cyclist can fully take advantage of. The designers at the Switzerland-based company spent a total of six years developing prototypes and gathering feedback from cycling’s biggest stage, leaving no design choice unexamined and no convention unchallenged. The S9 platform at the heart of the Dyora RS Summer S9 Bib Shorts is the result, and along with incredible construction technologies that optimize the entire concept, the system is applied to needs of a female rider. These bib shorts combine textiles and technology in an interwoven network of wrapping compression, silky comfort, and tensile pre-load to keep everything from the leg panels to the Dyora RS Insert securely in place. Embrace an uncompromising solution that strikes an impossible balance between aerodynamics, durability, and silky comfort for any variety of long training rides, road races and criteriums. These bibs are durable enough for daily use; engineered specifically for racing.
The foundation of this incredible piece of equipment is Assos A-Lock engineering, delivered in the S9 racingFit system. Every fabric panel, stitch and strap has been engineered for stability and confident comfort. The system comprises new textiles and construction technologies working in harmony to stabilize the shorts and secure the insert in place at all times, while maintaining proper support, compression, and overall performance. The designers tapped into the Assos proprietary Type.441 fabric to make up the main body of the Dyora RS S9. The textile gently compresses muscles for fatigue-reduction on long hard rides. The material actively cools while protecting your skin against UV rays, while also resisting odor build-up. Silky-smooth and breathable, the warp knit fabric has significantly fewer seams across the main body and the leg grippers, for better overall movement and more consistent feel in any riding situation.
While there are numerous technologies in play (each detailed in the Feature bullet points), beyond the overwhelming level of construction details and considerations you have the Dyora RS insert, reduced in size and bulk from the previous UMA version, which carries an antibacterial microfiber booster top sheet in 3D basalt colorway that keeps your skin cool and healthy. The seat pad insert has it's own technology game in place, with proven and desired Assos construction features like the ergoBox system that sets and keeps the insert exactly where required in relation to the short and upper section. Breathability comes from the 3D Waffle 3-layer perforated construction, and it maximized with the 9mm superAir microShock lightweight open cell foam with a shock absorbing composition that returns to its original position, supporting the rider every time pedaling position is changed in the saddle through the shift of weight. To give the rider more comfort and
protection in keys areas the goldenGate patented technology interrupts the stitching along both of the insert’s side panels, allowing a more three-dimensional freedom of movement in this sensitive, rotational area.
Every detail has been developed and executed for the female cyclist form, and remember, this is a pro race level piece. It will be tight and restrictive off the bike, but feel more natural and comfortable on the bike- which is what it was designed for. While there is no simple way to execute a nature break, the straps have been shaped and anchored to sit to the outside of the chest, which is what most women racers have requested. The Assos Dyora RS Summer S9 Bib Short is not for every rider, but if you identify as a racing cyclist, or someone who rides every day as if you are one, you won't find a better conceived and built bib short.
