Description
The Potenza groupset delivers 11-speed Campagnolo performance to a broader category of cyclists. More cost-effective, with judicious use of non-carbon materials and drawing directly from the engineering and design of Super Record, Potenza offers a great price point for existing and soon-to-be Campagnolo fans. There is something inherently reassuring from a Campagnolo drivetrain that many cyclists connect with immediately. The Braze-On Potenza Front Derailleur is an excellent example of how manufacturing excellence and material knowledge can be combined with superior engineering to ensure function that just may exceed expectations, let alone the price point. By carrying over the design of the Super Record version, with it's longer lever arm and body design, Campagnolo's Potenza Front Derailleur may be their best shifting mechanical version yet.
There were several directives for Potenza, performance, value, and wider gearing range among them. As such the single piece steel cage of the front derailleur is exceptionally durable, and has been shped and positioned to accommodate the wide range of the Potenza 11-32 cassette with either a 34-50 or 39-53 chainring set-up. Installed properly, you don't get the chainrub or hesitant shifts you may experienced with other systems. The shape and stiffness of the cage ensure proper chain derailment at any angle, and in any combination. The stiff main body and linkage increase efficiency, while the increased length of the cable-actuated lever, in conjunction with the new ergonomics and lever shapes of the Potenza 11-speed Ergopower Controls, deliver effortless and precise shifting.
This braze-on mount version of the Potenza Front Derailleur weighs just 94 grams, and maintains the quality materials and fitments you should expect from Campagnolo. While it may lack the bling of carbon and titanium, there is something to be said for a well designed front derailleur made with steel. The cage design delivers crisp, reliable shifts and is resilient over time. The design won't flex or give like models with lighter weight materials. Any cyclist who has had to make tough shifts under load knows the value in that stiffness, and gladly accepts the 30 grams or so of weight. Ride and shift confidently in any gearing with Campagnolo Potenza. Return to Top
