Description
Campagnolo has improved the Record rear derailleur with a new geometry combined with Embrace technology enables the rear derailleur to move along an improved path that keeps the chain closer to the cassette. This ensures better contact with the cassette and chain for a more solid power transfer and greater durability of the cassette and chain. Embrace Technology consists of small gears that engage with each shift to provide absolute precision when shifting. Campy claims that this advanced trajectory perfectly follows the curve of the cassette. This places the chain closer to the cassette in all gears from 11-23 to 11-29 for snappier shifts with zero hesitation. A special cog is positioned inside the derailleur body which embraces a rectangular section spring that precisely indexes each shift.
Quite a list of exotic materials are used in the construction of the Record rear derailleur to achieve maximum lightness yet still resistance to crashes and the elements. Carbon fiber on the outer cage and outer portion of the derailleur body are very stiff and light. The upper and lower body are made of monolithic technopolymer with carbon powder. A specially engineered aluminum fixing bolt is a two-piece system that is 53% compared to steel and 22% compared to titanium. The pulleys feature stainless steel bearings that are durable and consistently ensure excellent shifting performance.
For the best functionality, Campagnolo recommends matching current generation and newer shifters, derailleurs, bottom bracket cups and cranks. This newest generation of parts will feature a squared letter, which in the case of the rear derailleur, is located on the underside of the body next to the cable pinch bolt.
