Continental's Grand Prix tire range is the strongest collection of performance tires we offer. The collection is composed of three offerings; the standard Grand Prix, Grand Prix 4000S II and the Grand Prix 4-Season tires. What you see here are the standard Grand Prix tires. They are identical to the 4000S II, with the addition of a neutral edge tread pattern and use of an 180tpi casing. Like all Grand Prix tires, they feature Black Chili compound with PolyX Breaker belt for the ultimate in durability.

Continental's BlackChili compound ensures that these tires have exceptionally low rolling resistance, yet offer phenomenal grip in wet or dry circumstances across the entire rubber surface. Along with proprietary synthetic and natural rubber compounds, the secret to the properties of BlackChili comes from special nanometric carbon soot particles, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for each tire it is used in. Thanks to these polymers and carbon fillers, the BlackChili ends up offering excellent grip and durable tread rubber while keeping rolling resistance minimized.

Under the rubber tread, Conti has placed their PolyXBreaker which employs a tightly cross woven thatch of dense, strong polyester fibers for excellent puncture protection and pinch resistance. The casing has three plies of a thin 60 TPI synthetic that moves freely and remains supple, but is inherently stronger and perfectly shaped by Continental's engineers in Germany. The end result of the rubber, protection, and casing is a tire that speeds along in the straights, keeps you in control in the corners, and protects as well as any tire in the race/tour category.

As is typical of Continental's tires, the neutral tread of the Grand Prix feels firm to the touch. The firmer rubber and Black Chili technology combine to deliver grip, similar to a Moto GP tire. The mileage riders get from these tires exceeds expectation, but if you are coming from a Michelin, Hutchinson, or Vittoria tire, the firmer rubber requires a brief adjustment time frame. The great thing about Black Chili's wet or dry performance allows you to use the full round of the tire at any time, at normal riding pressure.
