The Eggbeater 2 is a slightly stripped down version of the 3 series pedal. Instead of the inboard needle bearing, you get a bushing. The wings (the beater part- don't lick) are cast stainless instead of a stiffer, stronger version. But if you don't ride every day or just want to give this innovative design a real test, the 2 series pedal is actually pretty solid. You still get the 4 sided entry that makes clipping in thought-free. You simply step down' if the pedal needs to rotate a bit, it will. All you have to do is clip in and go. The cleat can be positioned at setup for either a 15º or 20º release angle, which is beneficial for rider choice, but more importantly crucial for people with smaller feet. With less leverage, the 15° is perfect. Either way, you also get 6° of angular float as well. The Eggbeater 2 features a stainless steel spindle, body, and wings for strength and durability. It has a sealed cartridge outboard bearing. The assembly is serviceable and rebuildable. The Eggbeater 2 gets you in this great mud-shedding design.
