The sculpted curves and elaborately clean lines of the Cannibal Bottle Cage from Elite evoke something more flowery and pleasant than a cannibal. Perhaps the moniker is an homage to the man regarded as the greatest cyclist of all time, but the company betrays no such intent. It is our conclusion that the name comes from the capability of the cage to swallow up water bottles. The Cannibal Bottle Cage is designed to accept bottles from both sides and from the front, with exceptional ease. At the same time, it's composite material is both strong and flexible, so it grabs and holds bottles firmly when fully inserted. The lower structure of the fiber-reinforced polymide (FRP) composite cage actually has curved sides so that once you insert a bottle it self centers and you can use light pressure to secure it.

The deep v-shaped side wings don't physically join at the front, but are held together by a flexible elastomer that not only allows the cage to expand, but also grips bottles right at the top of the cage, pulling the bottle in and holding it against the upper tab. Despite the minimal shape, this is a highly effective bottle cage that could easily have been appreciated by Eddie on one of his long sojourns off the front of the pack to dominate the peloton. Durable, lightweight and ideal for smaller or deep sloping frames, but excellent on any frame type, the Cannibal Bottle Cage may well just catch your eye, but truly grab your attention the first time someone attacks as you take a drink and need to secure your bottle while accelerating to start the chase. Hey, even Eddie likely had that happen once.
