Garmin's Varia Vision In-sight Display allows you to view cycling metrics like speed, heart rate, power, time, distance and more without taking your eyes off the road. Additionally, it provides turn by turn directions, incoming text and call info from a paired smartphone. It even warns of vehicles approaching from behind when paird with Garmin's Varia Rearview radar. This small remote display is out of the way yet still visible. It attaches to either side of your sunglasses with a well-engineered quick release style mount. The small mount is barely noticeable and the Varia Vision can be easily removed by unlatching the two rubber bands.

Varia Vision can be placed either on the right or left side of your glasses. It automatically flips the image into the correct orientation. An ambient light sensor make the screen readable in any light including direct sunlight and the light settings can be custom tuned with an Edge 1000 or 520. You can customize several training/data pages to display exactly what you want just like other Garmin devices and swipe (forward or backward) from page to page along the side of the unit. A weather-resistant design allows it to endure even the longest and harshest rides.

There are many options that can be configured starting with 5 custom pages with up to 4 data fields per page plus very sharp color-coded graphic displays. Strava Segments can be turned on and off as can Navigation and Virtual Partner. The unit can be set to auto scroll or you can just swipe to go from page to page. Vibration alerts advise for key performances, directions, radar and incoming calls and texts.

In general, you will need an Edge 1000 or 520 but you can pair Varia Vision to Varia Radar directly without an Edge - just turn on both units and pair. You will then see dots representing cars approaching from behind with two vertical side bars showing green for clear, yellow for most approaching cars and red for vehicles closing dangerously fast. The radar show cars when they are about 150 yars behind and tracks them - showing their relative distance to you until they pass.
