The Giro Radix MIPS helmet replaces one of Giro's best selling helmets ever, the Hex. The Radix MIPS combines a rugged style with real-life durability to cost effectively protect trail riders of every skill level. The real upgrade here is the integration of the MIPS protection system with the Roc Loc 5.5 retention system. This allows the designers to reduce duplication of materials, reducing the weight MIPS adds to the helmet. You get to customize the fit and set-up that works best for you, with advanced helmet stability and comfort. The well told MIPS story tells us you get the added protection against rotational forces from impact that can create shearing of brain tissue within the skull. MIPS works, and when combined with the pure impact protection of the helmet, creates the safest system currently available.

To that end the Radix MIPS features the tough polycarbonate outer shell, fused to the EPS foam liner via Giro's InMold construction process. This system creates the shapes and impact resistance to pass CPSC and CEN testing requirements. You get the aforementioned Roc Loc 5.5 MIPS retention system, which allows to set the internal height of the shell as well as the dial driven head circumference tension. Antimicrobial, removable, washable, breathable Cool-Fit pads are soft on the skin, limiting discomfort. As a true trail helmet Radix has the full wrap, deep design that protects the back of the skull and upper neck. The ventilation system is awesome, featuring 25 vents, which are incorporated into the Wind Tunnel internal channeling system that allows fresh air to circulate on the skull, then exit carrying heat and moisture at the same time. The final touch is the adjustable visor, offering 15 degrees of up and down movement so you can find the balance of protection and visibility that you need on the trail.
