The DEMO wheelset has been ridden a handful of times, then re-tensioned and inspected by our DT certified wheel builder. Three notes: the 11s road Shimano freehub body shows cassette marks, the rear rub has some worn black finish, and the DT Swiss labels have been removed from the hub.

HED's C2 Belgium rim has been a local favorite all over Colorado for it's stability and durability. The machined rim brake surface delivers consistent, confident braking with standard brake pads. HED built the alloy rim out to 23mm wide externally, 19mm internally, with a 24mm profile. As HED has long been known as an aero wheel developer, the shape was developed to be fast, especially when mounted with a 25-28mm tire. This was the rim that truly pushed the industry to wider rim standards, and it remains a viable option today. The rim is stout, yet at 442 grams in the 28H, reasonably light for such a durable option that provides aero and handling benefits.

Perhaps the most talked about benefit of the C2 rim is how it contributes to both better ride quality and sure handling. It does this by better supporting the tire with reduced tire deflection in corners. So say goodbye to vague, loose cornering, and rail descents with confidence. Improved tire alignment over the rim allow lower tire pressure and reduces the change of pinch flats. All the benefits of the C2 make it a rim worthy of consideration for both road and cyclocross use.

Our favorite hubset, with all due respect to Dura-Ace, Record and King, has long been the DT Swiss 240s. Incredibly reliable, smooth, and easy to service, we regularly see tens of thousands of miles on these precision hubs with zero service. We advocate apply fresh grease to the ring drive system more often than that, but the seal quality and awesome DT grease get you there. The freehub body is referred to by DT as a rotor, and the system is interchangeable- tool free, High quality Swiss made steel bearings and superb low drag seals allow the hubs to spin with ease, and the lightweight, machined hub shells don't leave the factory unless they are perfect. These 28H 100/130mm quick release hubs make for an ideal wheel build with DT j-bend spokes, like the back double butted Competition's used here. Alloy ProLock nipples round out this 2x/2x build all-around.
