Speed, stability, control and affordability. Those are the qualities of the HED Jet 9 Disc Rear Wheel. The 90mm deep Jet design receives the Plus external rim width of 25mm (internal 21mm). The Plus Disc rims further advanced HED's understanding of aerodynamics, wheel control, and overall stability. The Jet concept has been around too long to mention as well, and HED continues to draw excellent drag numbers off of the light carbon fairing that is bonded to an extruded aluminum rim. The wider footprint of the Plus rim gives a more natural air flow transition from a wider tire over the rim surface. The rims are carried with bladed steel spokes on HED's Sonic cartridge bearing hubset. The rear wheel is laced 2x/2x with 24 spokes for ideal drivetrain transfer, excellent lateral stiffness and balancing disc braking force. For those who prefer to run tubeless tires and sealant, tubeless tape is installed and can be run with tubes or tubeless. HED recommends a minimum tire width of 22mm, but most people will run a 25-28mm tire to best take advantage of the Plus rim width. The rear Sonic 545 Center Lock Disc hub is coming with a Shimano/SRAM 11-speed freehub body, but HED does offer the full range of current interchangeable freehub options.
