Description
The KS LEV-DX Dropper Post is slightly scaled back version of the LEV. KS left out the small carbon bit and titanium hardware to offer a slightly heavier, but more affordable option. The Lev-DX was designed for exposed cable option bikes, and the cable box, or the access point where the cable attaches to the post, is adjustable to best match the routing of your frame. More on that below. If the performance, and not the weight is the most important aspect for you, you can get the same technology in the LEV-DX, and save the money for your next tire.
The LEV system is lightweight, offers zero cable play, uses the simple and easily maintained cable actuated hydraulics people love, and offers full adjustment of travel throughout its range. The new DX version is essentially the same post as the standard LEV, but saves you money by holding off on the shiny bits. The adjustable air-sprung hydraulic cartridge offers customizable drop-return speed set-up, and the patented roller-clutch bearings and replaceable brass keys eliminate stanchion play.
The top notch KS quality is seen in the hard black anodized stanchion, as well as the black anodized shaft and collar. The forged set clamp mechanism is micro-adjustable due to the two bolt, fore-aft system. The low profile, alloy remote can be mounted on either side of the bar, is compatible for direct mount with ODI Lock-on grips, and has a positive control thumb lever for sure adjustment.
LEV series posts have carried numerous riders to race victories and exponentially more cyclists through the rigors of climbs and descents throughout the world. Fully serviceable, this dropper is huge favorite for its simplicity and thousands of hours of outstanding performance. Some notes on install and usage: Read and follow all instructions for set-up. You have to follow the steps carefully, or you will end up having to start over again from the beginning. This is particularly true of the DX's cable box location. You move this assembly in increments. Also, setting the air pressure means removing the saddle and clamp, so you want to do it right. Always tighten the two seat bolts against each other- a few Nm's on one side, a few on the other, until you reach 10Nm on both. We have seen poor reviews of this post, but after examining the issues and talking with KS, we felt most issues were installation/user errors. Don't assume- be patient and follow the instructions.
