Mavic did a clean-slate design for Crossmax SLR 29 Wheelset. With all the buzz around 29 these days, Mavic decided to up the ante and design a 29 specific wheelset instead of the previous offering, which were essentially 26 inch wheels with a larger hoop.

The rear hub now has 4 pawls instead of 3. This offers lightning quick engagement which is a big improvement on technical climbs. The rims are extruded at .6mm thicker to firm up the ride, seeing that 29" is a tad more flexy and need some reinforcement. The rims have been relieved everywhere possible to reduce weight. Spokes remain largely the same as previous Crossmax versions with the exception of the non-drive radial rear spokes getting an extra treatment to add strength and durability.

The front hub is easily converted from 9mm to the 15mm standard. The rear hub can be converted as well to a 12mm thru with with either 135mm or 142mm spacing.
