Description
Carbon pedal bodies save weight, but the real performance story with the Keo Blade Carbon lies in the retention mechanism—a carbon leaf spring integrated inside the pedal body that controls release tension with more precision than traditional coil springs allow. This internal blade design replaced LOOK's earlier external-blade configuration and delivers consistent engagement feel across a wider tension range, from light settings that allow easy exit to firm settings that keep you locked in during aggressive efforts. The Keo Blade Carbon positions itself as LOOK's performance road pedal without the ceramic bearing upgrade of their flagship models.
The blade tension system adjusts from 12 to 16 Nm of release force, which gives you meaningful range to dial in how much rotational force is required before the cleat releases. Lower settings suit riders who prioritize quick exits at stops or who've had previous knee issues aggravated by high-tension pedals. Higher settings work for riders who want absolute security during sprints or out-of-saddle climbing where inadvertent unclipping would be problematic. The adjustment happens via the blade itself rather than a spring mechanism, so the feel remains linear and predictable across the range.
The pedals ship with grey Keo cleats that provide 4.5 degrees of float, which LOOK includes as the standard cleat with all their pedals. You can swap to red cleats for zero degrees of float or black cleats for nine degrees depending on your preference. The composite cleat body wears gradually and predictably, and replacement cleats are widely available when the wear indicators show it's time.... Read More
