Base layers with wind blocking front facing panels are not new, but the Garneau Supra Windbreaker Top adds a different feature- the application of a true, lightweight 3-layer softshell textile as the blocking surface. This ensures the blocker is very effective, yet can effectively allow excess heat and moisture to escape. The non-forward facing material is Garneau's Supra Filo2, a textured knit that is soft and comfortable, but also allows for a much faster heat and moisture transfer process so you don't struggle too much with the balance on dry, long shoulder season rides where a warm long sleeve jersey isn't quite enough, but you want a better riding fit than most shells allow for.

The design and construction are well executed though some find the piece a bit restrictive. This might be preference, but we recommend you size up if in doubt or at the outer end of a size range. The stretch is 4way with the Extenz 3L softshell, but the overall stretch factor is limited. Thankfully, the base fabrics are smooth and soft, and flatlock seams are used for great comfort, reduced chafing, and an easier glide across the skin.
