A women's cycling jacket doesn't need a bevy of different features from the unisex version, just fit and shaping considerations, and generally some possible style cues or colors that have a different visual appeal. Garneau has long done a great job with such design aspects and has a solid reputation with cyclists across the US and Canada. The same can be said for cyclists in general with quality wind and water resistant jackets that retain functionality and style off the bike, are packable, and more versatile than many cycling jackets. Which is why we brought in the Modesto 3 Jacket, a lightweight, jersey pocket packable, option that is also great to throw in your pack or gear bag to pull out in case of an unexpected storm. It is also effective as a shell for when you stop generating heat from activity during such situations as when pull-off at a store, cafe or a trailhead. It's a multipurpose, three season applicable piece that you can wear and layer for your cooler weather outings as well as running, cycling, hiking, or really any outside activity.
The 3rd generation Modesto is best yet, with a better fit overall and mesh panels enabling heat release zones in the crucial areas. It offers great features like reflectivity in the front and rear for added visibility in low light conditions, a drawstring waist, mesh paneling on the side for breathability. While Garneau lists it as their standard women's fit, it may be a little more tapered than some, but still designed to be roomy enough while not billowing out on the bike. That is a hard balance to strike and still fit a variety of body types, but again, this is something Garneau has traditionally managed quite well. A single rear pocket is great for softer accessories like a light skull cap or knee warmers, as well as securing your valuables. HiViz and other reflective zones deliver great visibility and some peace of mind in low-light situations.
