Building off the success of the first generation Ksyrium Elite Disc Front Wheel, Mavic has increased overall usability with the addition of UST tubeless capability and greater rim width. Road disc brake use is a reality despite the resistance of the pro peloton. For most riders disc brake use on road bikes just makes good sense. Mavic is on board, with a full complement of disc brake compatible wheels, such as this UST equipped, Center Lock disc version of the always in demand Ksyrium Elite series. With a 19mm internal rim width, this do-it-all front road wheel is best suited for tires from 70x25-32mm, making it true road spec, that pushes into fast gravel and even cyclocross use. The hub is set-up for a 12/100mm thru-axle, but optional adapters allow you to run a 15/100mm thru-axle or a 100mm quick release

Mavic's wheel systems employ a full complement of proprietary technologies and the Ksyrium Elite UST Disc CL Front Wheel is no exception. Start with the extruded, lightweight, asymmetric Maxtal alloy rim, which is joined by the welded and milled SUP joint. The sealed inner and outer walls of the rim create a stiff, resilient structure. FORE drilling is used into the outer wall, for Mavic to use their threaded, oversized spoke nipples that carry the straight pull, steel, bladed spokes. The system allows for a high tension build, yet with the steel spokes, the ride is smoother than the Zicral alloy spokes found on other Ksyrium wheels. To save weight on the 22mm profile rim, Mavic uses their ISM 4D milling process which removes all unnecessary material without compromising strength. The resulting offset 24 spoke wheel design counters braking forces from the Center Lock disc interface and offers excellent cornering performance along with a smooth, responsive ride.

In keeping with the theme, Mavic's own machined alloy hubs create unique slotting and retention of the straight pull spokes. All excess material is removed, and as Mavic has long made popular, and oversized alloy axle adds to torsional stiffness and response, and perfectly suits the thru-axle and adapter options. The axle rides on high quality, micro-adjustable QRM+ bearings that spin smoothly and have exceedingly long life when adjusted properly. No worries on that as Mavic provides the simple tool you need and the bearings are adjusted while the wheel in the bike.

Mavic was an early partner in UST tubeless design. The UST bead system, sealed rim structure and Mavic tubeless valve create an amazing airtight seal that doesn't require liquid sealant (though you will likely use it to protect against tire punctures). At 770 grams for the front wheel (part of a 1670 gram wheelset without tires), the weight is moderate, but excellent for a disc road wheel with so much capability. Mavic equips the wheel with their Yksion Pro UST road tire, a 12 tpi tubeless ready design with 11 Storm tread and a bead to bead polymide breaker to prevent punctures.
