Conceiving and developing great cycling shoes starts with a pure understanding of the proper anatomic and ergonomic requirements of the shoe-foot interface, the purpose of the shoe, and how the shoe as a fully integrated entity utilizes material and closure technologies. Specialized knows if the goal of the cycling activity is maximum efficiency and power transfer with little wasted energy from foot movement, as it is in road cycling, the foot must be controlled within the shoe. At the same time the foot must be fully supported and cradled by the shoe, while allowing it to breathe and relax.

S-Works Torch Epitomizes Overall Race Performance
Few gear choices are more crucial to the success of a serious road enthusiast or pro racer than a great fitting, power transferring, and comfortable cycling shoe. Every time Specialized releases a widely praised, highly desired technical marvel of a road shoe, the next model is even better. The S-Works 7 series shoes gave way to the S-Works Torch, and one will find themselves thinking, yet again, "how can they top this?" We don't have that answer, but we know it will happen. Very light weight, with an impressively supple upper, ideally placed dual-dial BOA system, and a more contemporary wider fit in both the Standard and Wide fits, this is a shoe that is a cut above and a step beyond.
For many the story of the shoe will be the new Crafted Ergonomic Upper. Leveraging data science, the designers refined every detail of the S-Works Torch upper for improved fit and performance. The BOA® cable is shifted down and angled, preventing lift on the ball of the foot. This evolution negates the need for the Velcro strap of the S-Works 7 while delivering power-enhancing structure and eliminating unwanted pressure or pinching. Proprietary adaptive materials allow natural movement of the foot where needed for comfort, while data-driven zonal reinforcement keeps the foot secured for crisp power delivery and optimal efficiency. Reinforcement over the big toe makes the most of the pull phase of the pedal stroke. Add in the extra width, the newly engineered FACT carbon sole plate, an Asymmetric Heel Cup, and the scientifically informed and proven Body Geometry technologies, and the S-Works Torch is the preeminent road cycling shoe in category known for top-level excellence.
