Panaracer was ahead of the game with their famed GravelKing tire, and after the standard model and SK editions were released, the design engineers at the Japanese company came to grips with the diverse nature of gravel riding and created several more tread designs, protection systems, and upgraded the tubeless bead for better seal and security. The SS (semi-slick) features an all-new tread pattern consisting of a smoother, diamond pattern center with more aggressive side lugs. This tread pattern allows the rider to keep speed going into corners and maintain control throughout any transition a gravel ride could present. Think of at as a fast, dry gravel/country road tire that still moves along on pavement and makes the transitions less stressful

Protection from puncture comes from Panaracer's own Anti-Flat belt design, a flexible, tightly woven Nylon belt which runs bead to bead on all sizes of the GravelKing SS TLC. This gives you reasonable impact, puncture, and sidewall protection at a reasonable weight. The SS+ version features the ProTite+ belt, which is heavier and less flexible. With the somewhat uniform feel across the width of the tire, the Anti-Flat belt never detracts from the ride quality. Much of that suppleness and consistency is matched to that of the 120tpi Advanced Extra Alpha Casing. The casing not only carries the tread and protection but features AX-a technology, which uses extremely narrow cord which is woven at a super high density into the casing for lightness and flexibility. This increased density improves resistance to cuts and abrasions The GravelKing SS TLC delivers a highly consistent and properly aligned casing/tread construction that rolls true, with no wobble, often a challenge for higher volume tires. The natural Zero Slip Grip (ZSG) rubber offers great grip and feel, with lowered rolling resistance, wet and dray performance, and is a great complement to the casing and structure.
