Description

A quality, affordable, and fully functional floor pump is a must for every cyclist. The predominantly used butyl tubes lose air pressure daily and tubeless and tubular tires need to be brought back to desired pressure regularly. The Park PFP-8 Home Mechanic Floor Pump is a great option under $40, and shares many features with it's shop quality sibling, the PFP-7
The base and barrel cylinder construction is steel. This gives the PFP-8 a solid feel and excellent resilience to the abuse pumps face in an average garage. The base is wide and flat, with textured foot pads for grip and safety. It holds the oversized, flush mount pressure gauge with an easy to read dial. This design is accurate and again, protected against falls and drops. The PFP-8 can drive up to 160psi, though 140psi is more than adequate for most non-tubular tires. The handle is a stiff and strong composite that has been shaped with ergonomics in mind, keeping your wrists and hands aligned for driving air pressure efficiently without too much stress on your joints.
Park uses a simple, 2-valve size head capable of inflating via Presta, Schrader, and Dunlop valve types. The locking lever firmly holds the head unit in position while inflating, and releasing the lever lock allows you to safely and effectively remove the head unit from the valve by pulling directly away from the valve. You will hear air pressure release upon removal, that is back pressure in the hose, not from your tube. We like the PFP-8 for it's steel construction. Most pumps in this price range use composite barrels and/or base plates. The Park PFP-8 Home Mechanic Floor Pump handles your inflation requirements, and will for years. Park supports the pump with a simple rebuild kit, and as is consistent with Park's ethos, the parts and support are available for years after purchase, helping drive value and good vibes to the PFP-8 as you consider a solid home floor pump.
