With the common use of press fit bearing systems and other non-threaded applications, the use of an installation retaining compound has become standard practice. Such compounds serve to create a better overall installation, filling in any gaps, and providing a light bond that often prevents the creaking that is the bane of press fit systems. Park Tool has developed their own RC-1 Green Press Fit Retaining Compound, and given the company's highly informed relationship with the bicycle industry and its components, we highly recommend it's use when installing your press fit system. Please keep in mind that if you are installing into a carbon fiber shell, you must use Park's AP-1 Adhesive Primer on the frame and press fit cups to prevent a permanent bond from forming.

Sold in a 10ml bottle, the RC-1 Green Press Fit Retaining Compound compares directly with Loctite® 680™. This product can be used for press fit, sealed cartridge bearings and other non-threaded, non-permanent applications. Use the product as directed and the 10ml bottle will go a long way. Always close tightly after use.
