Description

Three key aspects define Pearl izumi's Merino products. First is sustainability in the fabric cycle. Second is the anatomic construction process with smooth transitions and seams. Third is proper breathability to the fabric blend itself. Not all Merino products are made equally. Of course you also get the full attention to detail that the designers bring to bear across the line-up. The Merino Thermal Long Sleeve Baselayer is the warmest, heaviest (250g/m2) baselayer Pearl produces, and it is a perfect complement to the highly breathable AmFIB material jackets during the cold, wet, shoulder and winter training seasons.

The Merino Thermal combines Pearl's 18.5-micron responsibly sourced Merino wool and recycled polyester technical fibers in a remarkable Transfer Merino fabric construction that positions the polyester next to your skin for maximum wicking. This is the key to keep the moisture off the skin. The wool faces out for superior insulation and is a conduit for moisture release to the next layer. With its long sleeves the Merino Thermal is the ideal garment to layer when warmth and moisture transfer is key. One detail we all can appreciate is the thumb loops that keep the sleeves in place as you pull on your jersey. The cut is truly form fit, for optimal next to skln performance and minimal bulk when layering. The short front and long back favor a moderate to aggressive cycling position.

Wool has long been known as nature's technical fiber. One challenge for wool is that it can hold moisture close when layers are compressed over the top. While it doesn't lose it's thermal properties, moisture can stay close to the skin. The proper use of the polyester closest to the skin eliminates that challenge and allows the 18.5 Merino to deliver more warmth than you'd expect. That is informed and intelligent textile development and Pearl has always been an industry leader in this regard. Stay drier and warmer with the Pearl Izumi Merino Thermal Long Sleeve Baselayer.
