Description

The Pro Pursuit Bib Tight raises the stakes for cyclists who brave the windy, cold and wet roads October through April. Complementary design and performance afford the rider with the most comfortable ergonomic cycling bib tight that takes on wind and rain, yet offers impressive muscle support and inherent breathability that allows you to attack the conditions, not simply ride through them. Featuring a combination of softshell and thermal panels and a soft, smooth, stretchy upper that ensures the best fit and overall comfort, this is bib tight that separates itself off the front, at a price point no other option can touch. That is the beauty and essence of Pearl Izumi. You get premium fabrics and construction, from the a clothing company that is, and long has been, driven by the requirements of cyclists. Note that this bib tight does not have a chamois pad, allowing you to use your preferred short or liner chamois for best overall fit.

PRO level materials from Pearl represent their top-line fabrics. Lighter, more breathable, more compression, incredible fit and performance. The PRO 3-layer Softshell Panels not only block wind and water, but stretch and move with ease, never restricting movement. The polyester, nylon, and elastane materials work in conjunction with each other to block, stretch, breathe, and insulate. The brushed fleece inner surface traps heat, and releases moisture out the membrane layer quickly, keeping you warm and dry from the inside. The exterior layer prevents air and water from infiltrating the panels that run from upper thigh to below the knees. Movement assists in moisture removal and release while you ride. A 2-layer, lighter weight softshell material is used for protecting likely lower leg zones from road spray. The final fabric piece of the puzzle is supplied by thermal panels, predominantly on the back of the legs, which breathe even faster, yet keep you warm. These panels offer terrific stretch, and are anatomically defined by muscular requirements and once stitched together complement the softshell panels perfectly, for smooth, ergonomic pedaling action and muscle compression without binding at the knee or putting undue pressure on the patella.

The bib upper carries the thermal material up the back, again for stretch, moisture management, thermal properties and support of the core muscles. Generally the cyclist can then wear a thinner, lighter baselayer under, or over the top, and mainlayer appropriately for the conditions and planned effort of the ride. The flat straps feature minimal, raw edges for complete comfort. The effect is of a lightweight warming cocoon, with full range of motion and more than enough stretch to accommodate an aggressive cycling position. Pearl rates this form fitting cycling bib tight for temps from 28-45°F, in dry or wet conditions. Even when wet, the materials will protect you and keep you warm. Would the PRO Pursuit Bib Tight be ideal for heading out in a torrential downpour? No, but if you get caught in one, you'll get home safely.

The designers opted for light weight and simplicity, with stretch leg openings that are intended to sit down inside a bootie or shoe cover. There is no issue when pulling them on or off and you don't have to deal with zippers when you arrive home, worn out, and your covers are covered in slush. To offer some visibility in low-light conditions, reflective elements are added. This is truly a bib tight for performance cycling through the winter, and though we are some serious commuters love them, the PRO Pursuit is likely to appeal most to the committed cyclists and cyclocross riders who won't be deterred by severe weather from meeting their training goals. To get this level of performance from most companies you'd need to spend about $over $200. That is simply the truth, and while you prefer a style or fit for that money, you won't get better performance than what Pearl Izumi offers in the Pro Pursuit Bib Tight.
