The SELECT Thermal Jersey is great as an outer layer in cool temperatures, or an insulating layer under a rain or wind jacket that really extends the temperature and weather range of the piece. Pearl Izumi considers this jersey a foundation piece for cool and cold weather cycling, and for good reason. With it's semi-form fit, and warm feel, it is favorite of recreational cyclists and commuters, but just about any cyclist can find good use for it.

Fabric defines every cycling garment and the SELECT Thermal Fleece has set the industry benchmark for the combination of warmth and moisture transfer that drive the effectiveness of the SELECT Thermal Jersey. It is warm without much bulk, allows some air to filter into the fabric to help cycle moisture and heat, as it dries quickly. This can be accentuated by the full length zipper. And when you need to really block out as much air as possible and keep the heat in, the zipper features an internal welted design that prevents seepage through the zipper. That level of detail also is seen in the contoured, shaped sleeve hem seals in warmth, and the silicone treated elastic waistband that holds the jersey in place.

As a true cycling jersey, the SELECT Thermal has the standard rear three-pocket structure that can hold your snacks, tools, phone, etc. Pearl adds in a soft fleece collar lining and reflective elements to round out the piece. Our assessment is that for the money, there really isn't a more effective piece that can be enjoyed by more cyclists. The fit, performance and price align to deliver a great thermal weight jersey.
