Description
After a careful reassessment and R&D process, Pinarello has introduced a new gravel race design, the Grevil F frameset. While sharing some visual and practical characteristics of the original, the Grevil F is a very different frameset that achieves more overall capability, tire clearance, and improved, differentiated geometry ensures the same fork Trail for essentially the same fit, set-up, handling and control across all frame sizes. However, this is also a gravel race design, and speed is always important. Through their dominating World Tour road race experience, Pinarello believes aerodynamics always matter. The Grevil F is 4% more aerodynamic than the 1st generation, saving the equivalent of 5 watts at 40km/h (25mph), As gravel race events often exceed 200km (125 miles), with speeds potentially reaching 70km/h (43mph), every watt saved carries a rider closer to victory.
Built here with a Campagnolo 1x13 Ekar groupset, Fulcrum wheels, and Pinarello/MOst cockpit with TiCR complete internal routing, the Grevil F Ekar Bicycle is ideally equipped for racing and training, though many riders will opt for a higher-end wheelset for race events. The Grevil F follows the form of the Dogma F road bike with it's tube designs and shapes, along with the TiCR internal routing of all cables/wires/housing. The Flat Back tube design offers significant aerodynamic watt reduction, and is clearly seen in the down and seat tubes, as well as in the aero carbon seatpost. The Onda fork is stealthy as well, and it carries the disc brake shrouding aero ForkFlap feature. The fully integrated cockpit, headtube and frame slickly carries oncoming air as cleanly rearwards as cleanly as possible. The entire frameset is sleek, with proven aero features.
Pinarello employs their comprehensive, dropout-to-dropout Asymmetrical Design system to combat the offset forces of a right side drivetrain and left side disc braking system, seeking to utilize and combat these contradictory features. Some are clearly visible, noticed primarily through the tube shapes and junction designs. With the rear triangle each side is different, and the TWIN ARM chainstays deliver maximum pedal power transmission, while offering compliance via surface vibration absorption. The right chainstay is rotated downwards, as is the right seat stay, to have both rear triangles symmetrical with a uniform response to pedal strokes. Different connection points for the seat stays at the upper junction also allow the seattube to absorb impacts coming from the rear wheel for proper torsional balance in all circumstances. The choice of Toray's T700 UD carbon also serves to combine the perfect mix of different types of HM (high modulus) and HT (high strength) fibers to achieve the ultimate balance of rigidity and vibration absorption that complements the design. The rear triangle design also employs dual-dropped chainstays that assist with seattube angle changes to add much more tire clearance than the original Grevil, without impacting the Q-factor of the cranks, nor compromising bikefit or performance. This is also a crucial component of the new geometry.
The new differentiated geometry maximizes the space by using frame size-variable seatstay length and fork rake to ensures the same fork Trail and the same handling control across all frame sizes. A shorter Reach and higher Stack create an elongated position, offering better comfort, weight distribution and contributes to handling and rear wheel traction. As the chainstays measure between 422 or 425mm based on frame size, the overall geometry provides the best compromise between performance responsiveness and comfort. All sizes are fully compatible with 700c or 650b wheels. with tire size ranges up to 700x50mm and 650b x 2.1" (53mm). For those looking for a more capable and compliant Grevil, with increased aerodynamic performance, the Grevil F Ekar Bicycle has arrived.
