Description

POC makes helmets that have singular visual effect, yet countless advantages and features that define the ultimate purpose: high performance cycling. The Cerebel was developed in through their Raceday program with sponsorship of, in collaboration with of the Cannondale pro cycling team, and in partnership with Volvo Car Group and WATTS Lab. The goal was to produce a compact aero road helmet that offers substantial aerodynamic benefits in many rider positions, not just a static time-trial posture. Numerous CFD simulations were tested in the wind tunnel until the shape and profile was found that offered the rider efficiency in dynamic and varying body positions, which in turn benefits free upper body movement and the ability to clear lactic acid more efficiently than a static TT position. At 380 grams for a Medium, the Cerebel has a more than respectable aero helmet weight.
The Cerebel meets the necessary safety requirements with a high performance EPS liner, which has been optimized with different densities as protection and weight reduction would allow. The smooth, subtle shape facing forwards and reducing curved tail have excellent balance. At the base of the tail, POC soft molded EVA foam and covered this section with aerodynamic fabric proven to reduce drag, and is more comfortable on the body when in full tuck with eyes up. POC's normal attention to hyper detail includes the fit retention and chin strap components. An ICE tag is included.
The integration and attachment of the visor to the helmet is purely POC. Their unique magnetic attachment system for this lens has no rival for ease of use, clean integration, or aerodynamic function. Even better, the detachable visor is made by Zeiss, who know a thing or two about optical clarity and distortion. This visor truly is a lens and Zeiss has developed a tint that enhances the contrast along the road surface with clarity from any viewing angle to allow the rider to confident adjustments to road issues or obstacles without hesitation. The vented lens also allows meaningful air flow up into the dome of the helmet to refresh, then be released out to keep the rider and cool and dry as possible with a true aero helmet design. And yes, you get the bold, distinctive POC logos- one smaller version above the left eye, and a large version on the outer left.
We know that aero helmets designed for TT use have a reasonably small market, but we have long stocked the best aero helmet options available. POC incorporates design, data, testing, and forward thinking approach to developing helmets and the Cerebel is a standout, an award winner. If you ride aero and are looking for a premium helmet at an equitable price for what has gone into making it, and what you will get out of it, grace and protect your skull with the POC Cerebel. You even get a helmet pod to protect your Cerebel when you aren't using it or transporting to a race. Ah, Raceday.
