POC's deep experience with mountain trail bike helmet design, as well road and ski/snow helmet development has reached a new apex with the Kortal helmet design. The Kortal Race MIPS is the premium grade version but this standard still Kortal offers incredible fit, excellent ventilation, impressive construction and protection, as well as an exceptionally sleek exterior. POC uses proven construction techniques and materials to deliver impact protection, but their designers have long been been able to create strength with excellent ventilation and a fit-retention system that riders love. The polycarbonate shell and EPS foam liner are a system, with InMold construction with extra coverage on the edges of the ventilation ports for greater protection of the foam. The combination is also used for extended zones around the temples and the back of the head to provide extra protection in these higher risk areas.

The detachable helmet peak (visor) can also be adjusted and raise higher on the helmet, so that goggles or sunglasses can be stored on the helmet below the peak. The rear ventilation port holes are also shaped so that sunglasses can be securely stored in them. Developed for complete protection, the helmet fits seamlessly with the POC Ora goggles, and is designed so that the goggle strap does not cover any ventilation – helping ensure enduro riders stay cool on the climbs between race stages. It may work just as well with numerous goggle designs though you may want to compare strap heights and set-ups to be sure.
