Description
If the Wayfarer is the iconic sunglass of the modern and casual cool crowd, the Ray Ban Aviator has it's own iconography and gains immediate recognition by most of the world as the essence of professional and slightly dangerous cool. Originally designed for U.S. aviators in 193, Aviator Classic sunglasses are a timeless model that combines great aviator styling with exceptional quality, performance and comfort. While a full line of Aviator styles and variations meet the needs of pilots, outdoorsmen, marksmen, and more, the Aviator Classic is still the best selling style. Immediately recognizable, with a great fit for many medium faces and healthy cheekbones, the Aviator Classic is just as popular with women as men, delivering a somewhat hidden sense of obscurity, often ending in a warm reveal. Although the true classic model featured gold frames, the Aviator Classic line offers black and gunmetal options as well, for just a hint of variety to suit more skin tones and hair color.
The lens shape of the is simply, the Pilot shape. Deep vertically at the outer portion, with a tear drop effect away from the nose, the 58mm wide lens is about. 53 mm tall. Substantial edge and vertical coverage makes for great glare protection, and if you imagine a pilot wearing a breathing device, the shape makes even more sense. The thin metal frame is strong, yet has a simple elegance about it. The nose bridge measurement is 14mm, but the nose pieces generally allow the design to sit up a little bit, and are easily adjusted for various nose shapes and personal preference. The temple arms are 135mm long, with shaped ear pieces that offer some grip and plenty of comfort, while holding the frame steadily in place. Overall the style offers substantial coverage that suits the current trend of slightly oversized sunglasses, but style can truly be substance, as 100% UV protection preserves the tender skin around the eyes.
The true, original Aviator lens color is the polarized Green Classic G-15. Developed for military use along with the Aviator frame, and offers a high level of clarity, comfort and protection. The VLT is 15% making it great for high sun but the lens shade is surprisingly good in mixed light conditions as well. By absorbing 85% of visible light and blocking out most of the blue light, the green lenses provide remarkable color contrast. G-15 green lenses ensure better clarity of vision and a more "natural vision" that is easy on the eyes. Polarized lenses drastically reduce the brightness of shiny surfaces, like chrome, and large bodies of water. Polar lenses reduce reflections and enhance contrast with a result of improving visual clarity and reducing eye strain.
