At the heart of the 29 XC Carbon wheel set is a 380 gram carbon rim to provide exceptionally improved acceleration. Other benefits include the fact this carbon rim is stronger and stiffer than alloy giving better control and tracking when riding technical trails. Carbon is a poor vibration transmitter so the ride quality is significantly better than alloy even with the enhanced stiffness. We priced these to sell quickly - limited quantities available.

It should not go unnoticed that rims are made in the U.S. by the highly experienced folks at Reynolds Cycling. Reynolds has over 20 years of experience working with carbon composites and is using the most advanced rim manufacturing techniques on the planet. Specifically, this particular wheelset uses MR5 (Mountain Rim 5) technology which refers to the precise method of uses different carbon fiber and lay-ups to 5 distinct rim regions - the spoke face, nipple bed, tire channel, rim hook bead and side wall. Reynolds specifies type of fiber, epoxy and resin to achieve the perfect tensile strength, stiffness and elongation for each rim model. The rims are laced to red alloy, cartridge bearing hubs with straight pull, DT Swiss black Competition spokes and red alloy nipples. Reynolds uses the straight pull hub and spokes allowing higher tension to give addition stiffness which is a needed quality in 29er wheels. The front hub can be used for quick release, 15 and 20mm thru axle forks thanks to its clever, modular design and included extra endcaps. The rear hub also features the compatibility-friendly, modular design to work for 135mm quick release and 142mm x12 thru with included adapters. Choose from Shimano or XD Driver freehub.
