Description

Upright, or wheels-on bike carriers have come back into vogue with the proliferation of thru-axles, huge tires, and the increase in the average height of the world population. Okay, that last one isn't quite as important, but Rocky Mounts, a company that always produced high quality and innovative bike racks has been paying attention and thus, the Brass Knuckles Bike Mount. In creating this great new rack, Rocky Mounts accommodated the trend toward wider mountain bike tires and even planned ahead for your fat tire bike. The standard system can handle wheels from 20-29", and widths up to 2.75". An optional kit allows you to strap up and support some truly fat tires beyond 3". But if you are a roadie, or rider with a stable of various bikes, the Brass Knuckles has a narrower groove in the base tray to better control narrower tires.

Besides colors and cool designs, Rocky Mounts has always been known for the stiffness and shapes of the their extruded aluminum trays and wider mounting systems that keep bikes more stable on roof racks. The Brass Knuckles tray may be the stiffest yet, and the aluminum housing that holds the arm pivot is even more impressive. The arm action is smooth and sure, and the sliding wheel control arm features a grip that resembles true brass knuckles, hence the name. A low profile, minimal wheel trap folds down when not is use and is much more aero than any other design. In fact, when not in use, and laid flat, the entire unit has very little profile for on-rushing wind to catch.

The sliding ratcheting straps that fasten both front and rear wheels to the tray are durable and long enough to wrap around deep section rims. The tray's end caps are aero and provide a clean, sleek look. Security is a given. The arm mechanism can be locked with an optional Rocky Mounts Lock Core to lock the bike to the bike mount, and a second core can lock the bike mount to the roof rack. The cross bar mounting hardware works with virtually all factory bars, as well as Ouray, Thule, Yakima, Aeroblade, Whispbar, and Rhino Rack. The Colorado-based company delivers excellent tech and warranty support, and small parts are always available. If you want an upright, wheels-on bike rack that is easy to use, aerodynamic and wholly reliable, buy the Brass Knuckles Bike Mount. Return to Top
