The shoulder sets alternate, with a taller, longer outside knob in between each set. The true shoulder knobs form a triangle, 2 small round knobs, centered to the outside with a semi-round mid size knob that is the same height as the alternating longer edge knobs. With the the pressure lower, you get a flatter profile that adjusts with the terrain, offering exceptional traction without compromising speed. When pressure is higher, and you lean the tire over, you get bite that is surprising. All the knobs feature some sipe lines, making the knobs a little more flexible and capable of dealing with water or ice. This is an amazing tread design and we see it as capable of handling all course conditions except extreme mud, which would ideally call for a more open, aggressive tread set-up, but we wouldn't panic if this was the only tire we had available.
