The Short Aspide Open-Fit Saddle represents an evolution of the iconic full length Aspide Open-Fit saddle. At 250mm in length the Aspide meets the now current shorter length saddle standard. For many racing cyclists gone are the days of a longer saddle that allowed for more fore-aft movement. The reality is a saddle that holds and supports the rider with an ideal level of comfort and the ability to maximize pedaling power with every revolution is more efficient stroke after stroke. The Wave anatomic profile with this version's modestly flexible carbon shell has been combined with San Marco's Biofoam padding to produce this winning design. The Aspide Carbon FX Open-Fit saddle are handmade in small batch production in San Marco's Italian facility for consistently high production quality with every saddle made.

The Aspide shape features San Marco's Wave design. This means that the side profile of the saddle from front to rear has a 5mm central depression, similar to a curved line or wave. This wave shape is a natural anatomic fit and provides the base for lumbar and lower back support with a good balance of support and relief. The Aspide Open-Fit saddle has a long central cutout called- Open-Fit. This full length cut-out improves the blood flow to prevent numbness and provide welcome pressure relief on the perineum. Now, on the Carbon FX Shortfit variation, the cut-out is still full length relative to the 250mm overall length, and even more defined as the seating position is more consistent at all times when the rider is seated.

The carbon fiber reinforced shell has the right balance of flexibility and support to provide a solid cycling platform to offset the greater stiffness of the carbon rails and DNA X-Shaped Waist. This unique design sees a literal x-shape criss-cross carbon construction that allows the frame to be both lighter and more rigid. The X-shape creates a frame which is torsionally strong to reduce twisting and flex, even when you are running your saddle position to the ends of the rail in fore or aft position. The carbon fiber reinforced shell and DNA carbon rails help keep the Aspide Short Carbon FX Open-Fit Saddle to respectable weights in both the Narrow 139mm wide option at 150 grams, and in the Wide 150mm at 155 grams . Choose your width depending on your preference, sitbone pressure points, and experience on the Aspide platform. If you have ridden the 132mm Narrow on a full length version you will opt for the 139mm Narrow version on the Short model.
