Double chainring drivetrains aren't going away as both gravel and adventure riders require greater gearing range and efficiency. Shimano is offering the GRX 11-speed gravel components in two series, GRX 800 and GRX 600, which equate in the road line-up with Ultegra and 105 respectively. With nearly all of the same features and design, but with differences in materials and options, the two levels both offer great value, with GRX 600 delivering solid performance with the normal trade-off of a weight penalty. The Shimano GRX FC-RX600-11 Crankset features the asymmetric 4-arm spider design found on Shimano's road groups, with stouter, more mountain bike inspired crankarms. The 2x spider was built stronger as well, making the 4-bolt chainring options simpler and more cost effective.

Typical of Shimano, the bottom bracket spindle is the steel 24mm diameter Hollowtech model, so it uses the same external threaded and PressFit bottom bracket options as all Hollowtech systems. This double ring model has a 46.9mm chainline and a Q-factor of 151mm. The GRX FC-RX810-2 Crankset balances weight and efficiency for mixed-terrain riding. Gearing options cater for the specific demands of gravel riding and to maintain tighter gear steps for maintaining pedaling rhythm. The 2x11-speed crank is available in a 46-30T chainring combination and 170, 172.5, and 175mm crank arm lengths. The rings are forged and machined aluminum, with hard anodizing on the teeth for greater durability and corrosion protection. The body of the outer ring is finished in the black GRX 600 scheme to match the crank arms. It is compatible with HG-EV 11-speed and HG-X11 Shimano chains, and requires the use of the GRX 600 or GRX 800 Front Derailleurs for proper set-up and A-level shifting.
