GRX FC-RX810-1 Crankset
Description
Setting up a 1x gravel drivetrain around a Shimano groupset used to mean borrowing a mountain bike crank and living with a wider Q-factor than your road bike ever had. Shimano built the GRX FC-RX810-1 to solve that problem directly, offering a dedicated 1x crankset with a 151mm Q-factor that matches standard road cranks, so you're not widening your pedaling stance just to drop the front derailleur. It slots into the 11-speed GRX ecosystem and works with both mechanical and Di2 setups.
Hollowtech II construction is what you'd expect at this tier — hollow-forged aluminum crankarms bonded together for a stiff, efficient interface between the pedal and the 24mm steel spindle. The right arm and spindle are integrated as one piece, which shaves weight and improves the stiffness at the bottom bracket junction where pedaling loads are the highest. At 644 grams with the 40T ring and 656 grams with the 42T, this crank comes in roughly 100 grams lighter than the RX600-level equivalent while sharing the same interface standards.
The chainring is where the 1x design lives or dies. Shimano's Dynamic Chain Engagement+ narrow-wide tooth profile keeps the chain seated over washboard, roots, and the kind of lateral chain deflection that gravel throws at a drivetrain, so you're not running a chain guide to compensate. Chainring options are 40T or 42T, mounted to the asymmetric 110mm BCD 4-bolt spider. The chainline sits at 50.1mm, which pairs cleanly with 135mm or 142mm road disc hubs on chainstays 415mm or longer.... Read More
