Shimano's 11-Speed mountain cassettes are interchangeable across the range, but the SLX models are considered to be the best value, and is often the price option of choice of everyday trail riders who are cognizant of wear and damage. With between 9 and 10 cogs made from steel, depending on combination, the SLX CS-M7000 Cassette delivers on this wear, mileage, and price proposition. The largest 1 or 2 cogs are made with aluminum and the upper 3 cogs are always pinned together on a lightweight, stout aluminum spider that helps keep the overall weight down and ensures the stiffness and resilience to flex under wide-ranging shift loads, especially with 1x11 drivetrain options. While designed and manufactured for mountain use and abuse, the M7000 cassettes are also used with 11-Speed GRX gravel 1x11 drivetrains in the 600 and 800 series.

DYNA-SYS11 maximizes rhythm with “rhythm step” gears in the most frequently used range in which rider controls cadence and energy use by rear close ratio shifts that precise and fast, even under load. Shifting is smooth, with the steps matched for 1x11 and specific chainring combinations with 2x mountain set-ups. SLX 11-Speed is a HyperGlide design for Shimano, in which the cassette cogs incorporate specially positioned shift ramps and tooth profiles for improved chain control during shifting. It is compatible with HG 11-Speed Shimano chains, as well as LinkGlide versions. The Shimano mountain 10-Speed freehub is the same for 11-Speed, so the cassette is a direct fit. Road wheels with an HG11 compatible freehub will require a 1.85mm spacer.
