Shimano's Ultegra 6800 clincher wheelset represents a fantastic value in a relatively light, tubeless compatible wheelset. Weight is only 1640 grams thanks to a light rim and the use of 16 spokes for the front wheel and 20 for the rear. The wheel is tubeless compatible with a tubeless specific tire so with a little sealant the chance of a flat tire stopping your ride is greatly eliminated. Like any tubeless compatible wheel, you can alway use a regular clincher tire and tube or throw a tube in a tubeless tire should a flat occur.

Special wide flange hubs help to increase lateral rigidity and power transfer. Like most Shimano wheels, they use a cup and cone system with outstanding seals. We have seen Shimano hubs ridden super harsh, wet conditions while the grease inside remains as fresh as day one. A digital cone adjustment system eliminates the need for special cone wrenches. You just remove the end cap with a 5mm Allen and adjust the cone underneath with your fingers so the wheel turns smoothly with no play.

Some factory built wheel can have a stiff, harsh ride because of the extra tension required on a low spoke count wheel. Shimano engineers the spoke material, spoke count and hub flange to produce the ride of a well-conceived hand built wheel. Ride quality is in the sweet spot of just the right amount of compliance for comfort without feeling like a wet noodle.
