Shimano's XTR Di2 Front Derailleur Adapter system splits mounting duties into direct mount, E-type, high clamp, and low clamp options so the FD-M9070 or FD-M9050 can bolt up to essentially any 11-speed mountain frame regardless of what the frame designer had in mind. Pick the adapter that matches your frame's mounting interface and the derailleur itself stays the same part number.

The SM-FD905-D handles frames with a single-bolt direct mount tab — increasingly common on modern full-suspension bikes where the front derailleur mount is machined into the swingarm or a dedicated boss on the frame. The SM-FD905-E covers E-type installations, which use a two-bolt interface that typically sandwiches under the drive-side bottom bracket cup. If your frame doesn't have any dedicated derailleur boss, the clamp-band versions take over: SM-FD905-H for a high mount position and SM-FD905-L for a low mount position, with each covering the common 28.6mm, 31.8mm, and 34.9mm seat tube diameters through included shims.

Choosing between high and low clamp usually comes down to what's in the way. External butting on the seat tube, suspension pivot hardware, or shock linkage can force a higher mount than ideal, which is where the H version earns its keep.
