The Sidi Five shoe builds on the success of the best-selling Genius Fit by offering a shoe built on the same platform, with notable upgrades, such as the beautiful (and equally durable) Vernice-finished upper and upgraded sole. Both of these are massive performance and comfort upgrades from the Genius series shoe and worth the price of admission. The Sidi Five upper is constructed of Sidi's proprietary Tecnomicro fabric. This synthetic leather upper is thin, breathable, extremely stretch resistant and durable. Venting is accomplished with mesh inserts. A low profile caliper buckle and two Velcro provide precise closure. The durable Sidi Caliper buckle has a two-way ratchet for easy on-bike adjustment with incremental tightening and loosening. The adjustable Soft Instep Closure System and padded tongue eliminate pressure points.

At the bottom of affairs, we find Sidi's Eleven Carbon/Composite Sole which is designed for maximum stiffness and power transfer, but it's also engineered with a small degree of controlled flex in the toe area, which relieves plantar tendon strain during the pedal stroke. This is a nice balance between a stiff performance orientated sole with long range comfort in mind. Believe it or not, Sidi makes a few one-offs of their top range road shoes with this sole at the bequest of some of their sponsored Pros due to the perfected balance of stiffness-compliance.
