The Iron Cross Comp sits beneath the top end Pro and second tier Team versions of the same wheel concept. If you look carefully at the specifications, you see that the more race worthy (light weight, higher grade components), the lower the max rider weight limit. The Comp has a weight limit of 200lbs, so it is ideal for heavier competitors, but is also beefier for training, cross-trail, and endurance gravel riding. The Iron Cross Comp wheelset may not be super lightweight like the Pro version, but at 1681 grams, it is far from heavy. For the money, in a tubeless design, with low rotational weight, the Comp is more than competitive with other aluminum wheelsets in the price range. The 23.2mm wide Iron Cross rim features a 20mm internal bed width. The profile is a rounded triangular shape at just 17.5mm tall. Using NoTubes shallow BST technology, this rim holds tubeless ready tires tight at very high tolerances, even when you run a 34mm tire at very low pressures. When using sealant, your tires don't "burp" air, and even at extreme angles in the corners, the bead will hold air. The system is proven, and very effective. The rims themselves weigh just 385 grams, yet have excellent inherent stiffness and strength.

The 32 hole Neo hubset shares many qualities with it's Ultimate breathren: 100% precision CNC machined hubshells, the wide stance bearing system in the freehub, integrated high durometer seals, and oversized swaged. The differences lie in the details. Oversized chrome steel bearings are used and in the rear, the 4-pawl, 10 degree, 36-point engagement system replaces the 6-pawl system. While a step down, the 4-point is still superior than the previous generation NoTubes design.The engagement is still simultaneous and incredibly reliable. The hub flanges of the machined shell are now angled to improve spoke alignment and ease more consistent spoke tension. Construction and performance reflect reliability and durability, perfect for heavy use.

The lacing is 32 hole, 3x all around, using slightly stouter Sapim Race Black spokes (2.0/1.8/2.0) with Secure Lock aluminum nipples. This construction can handle aggressive riding and the greater braking torque of riders up to 200lbs. Unlike the thinner spokes of the Pro and Team versions, these can handle more compressive loads at impact and with the high tension set-up, braking forces are positively channeled to the rotating mass with zero wind-up at the hub.

With most disc cross and gravel bikes moving to thru-axle systems, that is how these disc brake wheels are set-up. The front features the 15/100mm thru-axle, and the rear the 12/142mm version.
